Analysis Method of Fullerene(C60) in Water Using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract
The fullerene (C60) is a material which is found in various areas; aerospace, environment, insulation batting material, lubricant, superconducting, macromolecular and catalyst. Analytical methods for samples with high concentration have been reported. In this article, analytical method using HPLC/DAD after liquid-liquid extraction is developed for the measurement of trace-level fullerene (C60) in water. The coefficient of determination(r2) was 0.9999 for the calibration curve in the range of 0.1 μg/L to 5.0 μg/L Method detect ion limit (MDL) and practical quantitation limit (PQL) was determined with replicate analysis of 0.2 μg/L spiking level were 0.028 μg/L and 0.141 μg/L, respectively. The recoveries for matrix spike sample were ranged 79 to 82% at the 0.1 μg/L and 0.2 μg/L spiked levels.
